Speech and Drama
Scoil Pádraig Naofa has a long and proud tradition of providing weekly Speech and Drama Classes. We are very fortunate to have employed some marvellous Speech and Drama teachers who have nurtured a great love of this extra curricular subject in the pupils who have opted to participate over the years. Our current Speech and Drama teacher is Michelle O'Grady who is the founding member of Realta School of Speech and Drama and who is much admired and respected for her ability to impart her love of this activity to her pupils.
Speech and Drama classes take part each Tuesday afternoon, upstairs in our school library.
Speech and Drama classes are made up of a range of drama and voice-related activities designed to improve self-confidence, communication skills and presentation skills. The classes incorporate poetry and prose to engage and inspire students and to foster a love of reading and literature. Like all the arts, Drama allows students to communicate with and understand others in new ways. It is an important tool for preparing students to live and work in a world that is increasingly team-oriented rather than hierarchical. Drama also helps students develop tolerance and empathy.
