An Tigín (Aistear Room)
Aistear (the Irish word for journey) is the national curriculum framework for children. Education is a lifelong journey that can take many different routes.
Here in Cregmore School, we pioneered the first Aistear Room of its kind in the country in 2019. Upon seeing the many benefits our Aistear room provided for our children we decided to develop this concept further which lead to the creation of 'An Tigín' in 2022.
The boys and girls have been taking part in some fantastic imaginative play in the ‘Role-Play’ stations as well as engaging with an array of activities in the ‘Construction’, ‘Literacy’ and ‘Junk-Art’ stations which are set up in An Tigín. This uniquely special building will also be used by many of the children throughout the school for a variety of purposes as it is a wonderfully, calm, warm and comfortable space in which children of all ages can engage with the many resources available within the room. An Tigín is an invaluable asset and we know that the children of Cregmore N.S. will benefit greatly from its’ addition to our wonderful school. This would not have been possible without the ongoing support and funding of our school community.
