IT (Information Technology)
We are very fortunate in Scoil Pádraig Naofa to have a vast and varied suite of ICT tools which we use daily to enhance the teaching and learning throughout the school. This includes a substantial state of the art array of I-pads, Surface R.T.’s, cameras, computers, interactive whiteboards, projectors and much, much more which are used in every mainstream and special education classroom.
Our committed staff are regularly upskilling in the continually evolving ICT world and are very well equipped, and highly proficient in its use.
This commitment and skill is evident in our numerous accolades and achievements we have received, including Dámhna Scoileanna Digiteacha le Gradam – The Digital Schools of Distinction Award. This was presented to our school in recognition of excellence in integrating ICT into learning & teaching. Each class from Junior Infants to Sixth Class was evaluated on how they utilised ICT to enhance the standards of learning throughout each classroom.
FÍS (Film projects for Primary School children) have also bestowed us with many awards & presentations. Some of these include Outstanding Achievement in Film Making for Curriculum Relevance (2016), Highly Commended for Centenaries Special Category (2016), Outstanding Achievement in Film Making for Animation (2017), Outstanding Achievement in Film Making for Animation (2017), Outstanding Achievement in Film Making for Editing (2018), and the Outstanding Achievement Award for Storyboarding (2019).
While we embrace and celebrate technology in this school we are very aware of its dangers and pitfalls. Internet Safety is discussed, and taught in the classes. Pupils are advised to exercise caution, vigilance and safety while using & exploring the Web.
