Cregmore National School

School Note. Friday, May 29th.

05-June-20

Dear Parents, Guardians, Pupils and Colleagues,

I hope you are all well and content.

Another week has passed and we look forward to a sun-drenched Bank Holiday weekend.

It was great to hear the Taoiseach announce earlier today that all schools will reopen in September. Needless to say, there will be directions given and rules to adhere to, but we will make every effort to ensure that we all return to a safe environment.

As we approach the end of the school year, reports, booklists etc are being prepared and I will update you next week on a plan being devised by Mr Connell to arrange the collection of all belongings from the school. If there is any specific item that your child is missing, please contact the class teacher to ensure that it will be ready for collection. The pupils from Rang 6 should have their school blazers cleaned and ready to return and their deposit will be refunded.

I have visited the school daily and it has been lovely to meet so many pupils who use the front yard and basketball facility to exercise. I have to compliment them on their good behaviour and their adherence to social distancing and respect of each other. I'm sure they love to meet up and spend valued time together.

The Astro Turf, fencing and running track are progressing very well, but it was bitterly disappointing to see that some individual(s) had entered the pitch on Wednesday night last and caused significant damage to some of the work that was carried out that day. Poles were knocked and fuel tops removed from machinery. What can I say other than how disillusioning and upsetting it is to be knocked back time and again when striving to simply provide much needed facilities for our community.Lets hope that this will not reoccur.

So until next week, enjoy the sunshine, stay safe and be kind to each other.

Kind Regards,

Joe
