Fire Safety Week continued throughout the school again today. Our theme for exploration today was that of ‘detection’. The best way to detect a fire is through the use of a working smoke alarm. Smoke Alarms are designed to give you an early warning of a fire. 82% of fires resulting in fatalities had no working Smoke Alarm.
Here are 5 smoke alarm safety tips:
- Install smoke alarms to help protect your home and family
- Placement of smoke alarms is important – the middle of the ceiling is best
- Maintain your smoke alarms to help ensure they are functioning properly – check batteries regularly
- Choose the right smoke alarm for your needs
- Have a plan prepared if the smoke alarms sounds – ensure that all family members are familiar with the plan
It will really delight you to know that many of the pupils worked hard throughout the week learning and designing their eircode. Do you know your eircode? You will need to know this immediately if you call 999 or 112. Find it, write it and say it, you might just need it. The children have promised to place their eircode poster in a prominent place at home should it be required in an emergency situation.
Do your work with pride, put safety in every stride!
We hope that some of today’s photos will light you up & make you crackle!!
