Thank You, Firefighters!

Fire Safety Week culminated with a visit to our school by members from the Athenry Fire & Rescue Service. Officers Peter & Joey called to our school and delivered fire safety talks to all members of the school community. They shared their safety tips & tricks with the pupils coupled with exhibiting their fire apparatus, props & fire engine. Excitement reached fever pitch when the children were afforded the opportunity to use the extinguishing hose. We listened to the sound of the siren & observed the flashing blue lights! Did you know…….? You should ALWAYS give way to a flashing blue siren. Sincere thanks to the Athenry & Galway Fire & Rescue Service(s) for supporting Fire Safety Week in Cregmore National School. Your generosity of time and kindness to our school have made our Fire Safety Week a resounding success. We wish to thank you for the incredible job that you do in our community each and every day.

To conclude this initiative throughout our school, we have one final plea for each home. We are urging each household to ensure that you have a FIRE BLANKET IN YOUR KITCHEN. If you don’t, this is something that can be easily resolved over mid-term-break.

Please remember, ‘be a bright spark, plug out that charger’! Stay safe everyone.
