Letter to Parents. May 1st

01-May-20

May 1st 2020.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Pupils and Colleagues.

Another Friday. Another week passed. Another step closer to the end.

I hope this email finds you all well and content. Never before were we so fortunate to have such beautiful weather as it certainly helped deflect from both the personal and worldwide challenges. The sunshine signalled expectation, happiness and hope for the future. It somehow made us partially forget the dire situation we find ourselves in as we concentrated on the outdoors and further embraced nature through observation, activity and exercise.

To be very honest, the week was rather uneventful, apart from the fact that I received so many lovely emails from parents and pupils. Thank you. I appreciate very much the effort that you have gone to in creating the Home Videos and art work. As you are aware, Mary has put them together and made a copulation video which she has uploaded on to our website. I honestly look at it a few times daily. It makes me very happy to see you all and already I can see so many changes in you. Isaac is getting very tall. Lucca is very active, while Isobelle is very fit running around her garden. I love it and I think that it is a very special project which we will always have to look fondly back on. It would be unfair of me to comment on individual videos, but Ava’s Connemara pony, Oliver’s lambs, Sara’s Guinea Pig and John’s lovely gentle dog all brought a smile to my face. Special. Very special........ You can still make a video and send it in. We would love to see it.

We have also received over 50 drawings of our boats returning to shore. They are beautiful. Please keep the original copies and as promised, I will have them framed when we return to school. I love them and again, thank you for all your hard work. I received a wonderful project which Struan (Rang 4), completed, documenting his holiday aboard a Cruise Ship last Summer. With Struan’s permission, we are going to upload his project during the week for you all to see. Thank you Struan and well done. And again, it is not too late to draw your boat returning to shore and to email it to us.

I am also very aware that the communication between teachers and pupils is going very well and that all our pupils are getting through some schoolwork. I am grateful to the teachers for their efforts, as I’m sure you all are, and I urge you to please continue supporting and encouraging the pupils.

I hope that I am not annoying you with a Weekly Task suggestion, but if you have time can you please write about your favourite pet. Just a few short sentences.....and include a photo or a drawing. If you don’t have a pet you can write about your favourite animal or tell me about a trip you went on to the Zoo. I’d love to know all about your pets and I’ll tell you about my dog Rossi.

Finally, on behalf of Cregmore School community I would like to extend our sympathies to Margaret Mary and Frank Forde and indeed all the Fordes of Lisheenavalla and the recent passing of Margaret Marys sister, Norita. RIP.

Today is May 1st, La Bealtaine, the first day of Summer. It has been celebrated since pagan times as it heralds a new beginning. The month of May is very significant in the Church calendar and is devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Several homes create a May altar. Let us hope that Mary will keep us all safe during this month and that we will be back together very soon.

Kind Regards to you all,

Joe
