Know Fire Safety - No Pain

We continue the exploration of fire safety throughout the school. Of particular interest for us has been the integration of the arts and play into the theme of fire safety. Pupils enjoyed constructing/making fire engines, fire extinguishers, fire hoses and lots of other useful equipment. Fire safety quizzes, puzzles, projects, stories & presentations took place within the school. Lots of fun was had listening to ‘The Ring of Fire’ & ‘The Marino Waltz’. This song and musical excerpt are very much correlated to the theme of fire & fireside memories. All pupils enjoyed creating a ring of fire, which contain(s) fire safety messages. Here are our top ten tips for parent(s)/guardian(s) on how best to stay safe & to help prevent a fire:

  1. Have regular safety talks with your child
  2. Avoid playing with lighters and matches
  3. Double check extinguished matches
  4. Be mindful of burning candles and incense
  5. Avoid overloading sockets
  6. Execute a fire evacuation plan
  7. Get low and exit if/when necessary
  8. Leave everything behind
  9. Avoid using an elevator in the event of a fire
  10. Know the emergency numbers – 999 or 112

Remember: “Know fire safety, no pain, no fire safety, know pain.”
